Our pilot project: Making a difference already

SEAfoRS is up and running! With a little help from our friends, we have given loans of about $US82 each to 13 farmers. This modest amount has helped them all to buy seeds and fertiliser and other things to get new crops planted. Many, like Adamsay in this photo, have planted peppers that will ripen in time for the New Year festivities and should provide good returns for the farmers. Adamsay is bringing up three children on her own and they are looking forward to enjoying the festivities themselves for a change this year!

Alpha could not afford books and dropped out of school. He's used his loan to restart his education and rent a plot of land for income. He's hoping to become an engineer.

Amie has a large extended family and lost her husband in a car accident ten years ago. The peppers she is growing will fund education for the children and give them all a brighter future.
